Alright, I got a bit behind this week but I can’t just let down me and my 23 subscribers like that! We’re building something weird and wonderful here at Open Tabs and I gotta keep it going.

This one was supposed to go out earlier, but the scroll doesn’t stop — and neither do the finds. So here’s your Monday afternoon scroll snack, packed with songs about poop, somersaults to first base, and one dog to rule them all.

On Company Time Is the Next Lonely Island — and They’re Already Building the Lore

This one’s been building for a bit, but it’s time to say it: On Company Time (OCT) is going to have a mega-hit. It’s just a matter of time.

They’ve got the formula dialed in — high production value, legitimately catchy beats, and sketches that somehow land in the sweet spot between dumb and brilliant.

Their latest? A song about… poop. But it’s good.

My personal favorite is this one:
🎥 “Half Horse, Half Man” — it’s so catchy I literally was humming it for days when it came out.

And their early hit?
🎥 “Dim Sum Paradise” — the one that first caught traction and showed they could make a legit banger with absurdist charm.

They had momentum going with Half-Horse, Half-Man before the “TikTok ban” news cycle slowed things down. But the trajectory is obvious. And of course, TikTok can be a bit of a silo at times but they are going to nail a song soon—I guarantee it! Once they do, the inevitable tour plus world domination will follow and I will be checking them out when they come to town.

I’m calling it now: OCT will have a viral crossover hit by the end of 2025.

🔸 Very Important People — “Zeke Pooped A Rock”
Remember when I talked about VIP? Well, now that I whet your beak, I wanted to highlight one of my favorite episodes and characters from the show. Meet Zeke, a 4th-grader who met a genie and asked to be turned into rocks. I do want to remind ya’ll, the improv genius that is Anna Garcia, doesn’t know who she’ll be until the makeup and costume reveal. Then she builds the character on the fly — and Vic rolls with it perfectly.

Oh and coincidentally I actually saw IRL in LA eating outside at Chipotle and told her content was awesome. She was shook—mouth half-full with chips and guac she gave me a sheepish thank you lol. But, this was before she had started really blowing up so it took her aback! Maybe I should be a talent scout?? Anyways—back to the Tabs. Watch her be freaking hilarious below!

🔸 Grandma’s Boy — Feel Good Interview with David Joel Moore (JP)
This was such a treat to see on the timeline since this is one of my favorite comedies of all-time. David Joel Moore talks about how he didn’t expect the movie 20 years later to be such a cult classic. His character was incredible. If you feel like having a belated 4-20 tonight, take an edible and enjoy.

🔸 Remember The Sifl & Olly Show??
If you don’t, it’s okay because I certainly do! I feel like there was this period of time in the 90s where unhinged comedy shows were a thing. Beavis & Butthead, Ren & Stimpy, and this one. Sifl and Olly were literally sock puppets. It ran for 3 seasons and has an 8.8/10 on IMDB! So the lore behind this song “United States of Whatever” was the creator of Sify & Olly, Liam Lynch, made this at his home studio in one take. It’s got such a good 90s grunge and slightly punk energy to it. Catchy!

🏀 Go Sports!!

I like sports way too much to not have a segment from time to time so what better to blend internet memes and a little nostalgia than naming it after this iconic video from 2019 which is basically a centuries, nay eons on the internet.

🔸 Aussie Commentary: Josh Giddey’s Buzzer-Beater
This one predates OpenTabs but it’s important to me that I highlight content creators I consistently see and love. Also, this ending was absolutely bananas when I watched it in real-time so to see the guys at Shepmates paying homage to it as their fellow Aussie, Josh Giddey, comes in clutch was just awesome.

🔸 T-Mac Learns He’s Related to Vince Carter
Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter did not realize they were cousins until they went to a family reunion while Vince was at University of North Carolina. I guess dunking runs in the family? Here’s a quick vid of their reactions but I stayed for the epic dunk compilation. So sick they got to play together on the Raptors for two years as well!

This creator can draw anything you request in under a minute. I found watching this to be some form of visual ASMR. Hearing the light pencil sketching plus watching this mantis shrimp come to life is my new form of meditation.

We HAVE to talk about Lufy

Last month, a post went viral from a Dubai animal rescue account asking for someone to adopt a dog named Lufy. It took the internet by storm. I first learned about him thanks to this recap on the The Dogs Were Good Again podcast. If you don’t know who Lufy is, you may be living under a rock—Zeke’s rocks in fact. But still, you’re off the hook because that’s what I’m here for—to enlighten the chronically offline!
